About BKLYN Incubator
This internship is housed in the Office of Strategic Planning at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL). The Office of Strategic Planning is a think and do tank inside a large, rapidly changing public institution. BKLYN Incubator is housed within this department and supports innovative programs at Brooklyn Public Library by providing professional development, mentorship, and resources. The purpose of BKLYN Incubator is to provide innovation funding and training to build our public programs and services from the ground up and support ideas that are responsive to community needs.
The Office of Strategic Planning is currently seeking candidates with strong project management and people skills to work on the fourth round of BKLYN Incubator. The position will work directly with the BKLYN Incubator Manager to help coordinate and support the growing community of innovators among the staff at BPL.
This intern will assist with Incubator related training and development programs and support the implementation of BKLYN Incubator related events.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate their interest in public institutions (ideally libraries), design thinking/learning, and a community-centered approach to building programs and services. Additionally, the following skills will be used by the right candidate:
Although a skills match is top priority, preference is given to current graduate students or those with/pursuing advanced degrees in public policy, government, social science, information science, or design. Candidates must be able to commit to 15 hours per week for a full semester. This is a paid internship with a competitive stipend and has a strong learning component that can be used for academic credit.
