Culture Pass is seeking a part-time Community Programming Coordinator to plan and execute programs from January, 2019 to the end of June, 2019 in Brooklyn working from the Strategic Planning office at Brooklyn Public Library.

Culture Pass allows library cardholders 13 and over from Brooklyn Public Library, The New York Public Library, Queens Library, to check out free passes to participating NYC cultural institutions. Culture Pass will work with participating cultural organizations to bring educational programming to libraries throughout the City, with a focus on providing programs in underserved communities. By offering these programs, participating institutions will be better connected with the City at large and attract individuals and families who may not typically visit due to barriers such as lack of awareness about what the institution offers, price of admission, physical distance to the museum and discomfort visiting a new and unfamiliar place.

The coordinator will work closely with counterparts in Queens Library and New York Public Library and report directly to the Culture Pass Manager at Brooklyn Public Library.

    • Working with library branch staff in their service area and cultural partners across the city to plan programming topics
    • Identifying target audiences and communities for programs
    • Scheduling and marketing programming in library branches
    • Managing invites and tracking RSVPs for community programming events
    • Attending community programs
    • Conducting follow-up with library staff, partners, and program attendees to measure the impact of programming
    • Coordinating with team members to ensure parity in Culture Pass programming
    • Participating in team meetings
    • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualified candidates will have experience with databases, web-based software and working with people from diverse backgrounds, as well as knowledge of the NYC cultural landscape and public library systems, and interest in cultural equity. Candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:

    • Strong project management, communication, and leadership abilities
    • Interest in or experience with cultural institutions, libraries, and a community-centered approach to building programs and services
    • Experience in public programming, education, and promoting equitable access to the arts and culture
    • High attention to detail and be highly organized
    • Ability to identify strong partners and a focus on thoughtfulness, purpose, collaboration and impact
    • Strong community management abilities using strategic approaches to keep people engaged and informed
    • Must be collaborative, willing to take initiative, and willing to travel to program sites at library branches throughout the City

This is a temporary, paid position at $20/hour. The Coordinator will spend approximately 17 hours per week working on Culture Pass community programs and may work late hours depending on program scheduling.
