Culture Pass is seeking a part-time Community Programming Coordinator to plan and execute programs from January, 2019 to the end of June, 2019 in Brooklyn working from the Strategic Planning office at Brooklyn Public Library.
Culture Pass allows library cardholders 13 and over from Brooklyn Public Library, The New York Public Library, Queens Library, to check out free passes to participating NYC cultural institutions. Culture Pass will work with participating cultural organizations to bring educational programming to libraries throughout the City, with a focus on providing programs in underserved communities. By offering these programs, participating institutions will be better connected with the City at large and attract individuals and families who may not typically visit due to barriers such as lack of awareness about what the institution offers, price of admission, physical distance to the museum and discomfort visiting a new and unfamiliar place.
The coordinator will work closely with counterparts in Queens Library and New York Public Library and report directly to the Culture Pass Manager at Brooklyn Public Library.
Qualified candidates will have experience with databases, web-based software and working with people from diverse backgrounds, as well as knowledge of the NYC cultural landscape and public library systems, and interest in cultural equity. This is a temporary, paid position at $20/hour. The Coordinator will spend approximately 17 hours per week working on Culture Pass community programs and may work late hours depending on program scheduling.
