  • Overview

    The HSE Program Assistant will provide quality professional support for the Brooklyn Public Library’s Adult Learning Program High School Equivalency office located at the Pacific branch. Responsibilities will include assisting HSE Literacy Office though planning, organizing, and coordinating daily functions to support HSE participant’s success. Duties will also include triaging HSE hotline, HSE email, facilitating HSE screenings, assisting HSE classroom instructors and advise participants and refer applicants as needed. The HSE Program Assistant will serve as a resource for all HSE participants and potential test takers, track participant achievement by collecting data utilizing the appropriate management systems (ASISTS/Salesforce/Google Drive). Assist with administering NYSED required standardized assessments. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, extremely organized, able to multitask, handle large amounts of program data, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Also, must be able to pay attention to accuracy, detail and confidentiality.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with new HSE enrollments (TASC/NEDP)
    • Works collaboratively with key HSE team members in a fast paced environment
    • Review documentation to ensure it is valid and meets funder requirements
    • Coordinates and composes HSE enrollment letters, track participant attendance, and assist HSE instructors as needed
    • Assist with coordinating communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interacting with program participants.
    • Maintain an organized filing system of paper and electronic documents
    • Facilitate bi-weekly HSE screening presentations and process enrollment applications
    • Ensure all HSE participants paperwork is accurate/complete and entered into appropriate databases

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma/HSE equivalent required
    • One (1) year of related work experience in an administrative office setting
    • Knowledgeable of NYS 4 Pathways to earn your High School Diploma
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with staff, external stakeholders and program participants
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Passion for Adult Learning (HSE)

    This is a grant funded, part time position. Salary for the position is $15 per hour up to 19 hours per week

     

    The work schedule will be:

    Mondays 2pm-6pm

    Thursdays 3pm – 8pm

    Fridays 11am-3pm

    Saturdays 9:30am – 3:30pm
