In addition, this position will use data from the dashboards, supplemented with additional data as needed, to fulfill external reporting requirements to state and local governments and other entities as required.   This is a part-time, temporary position for approximately 8-12 weeks. The schedule would be up to 19 hours a week. The salary range for this position is $15-$20.00 an hour.

BPL provide nearly 60,000 free programs a year with writers, thinkers, artists, and educators—from around the corner and around the world. And we give patrons millions of opportunities to enjoy one of life’s greatest satisfactions: the joy of a good book.  Through a hotline and a series of in person programs at branch libraries and other offsite locations in East New York, Brownsville, Flatbush and Coney Island, the Digital Navigation program provides low-income Brooklynites with assistance withcommontechnology and digital literacy challenges, includingfinding low-cost internet service plans, troublshooting common digital technology issues, staying safe online, and more.   Housed in the Office of Strategic Planning and reporting to the Digital Navigation Manager, the Digital Navigation Coordinator will assist with program scheduling, staff onboarding and training, and implementing core IT systems including a new CRM (Customer Relations Management) tool. The Digital Navigation Coordinator will work with colleagues in the Department of Customer Experience, Outreach Services, The Business and Career Center, and IT to develop guidance and training for all digital navigators, while also helping the manager with external partners and locations for offsite programs.   This position is full-time and grant-funded, with the current funding level expected to last two years, though additional funding is being sought. Remote work is possible, though the Coordinator will be required to travel to library branches and other Brooklyn locations regularly for outreach and in-person programming. The salary range for this position is 55,000-60,000.

Brooklyn Public Library is seeking an Environmental Community Organizer to engage Greenpoint residents in environmental and health issues. This new, one-year grant funded part-time position is supervised by BPL’s Environmental Justice Coordinator and based at Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center.   The Organizer will be responsible for building relationships with Greenpoint residents, especially within the Polish-speaking communities, to share environmental and health information and resources. The primary focus of this organizing will initially be around the Meeker Avenue Plume, which the EPA added to the Superfund program’s National Priorities List in 2022. The Organizer will work closely with the Library’s existing coalition of neighborhood environmental advocacy groups and City, State and Federal agency partners, as well as build new relationships, to ensure Greenpoint residents are fully aware of all the information and resources available to them.

Brooklyn Public Library's Adult Learning Program is seeking part-time ESOL Instructors who are skilled and committed to providing high-quality ESOL instruction to Beginner level English Language Learners from varying demographic backgrounds.   Strong candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for seeing others succeed, and a determination to facilitate learning through proven methods of instructional delivery.  Successful candidates will also have a healthy appreciation for the diversity of adult ESOL students, as well as be able to quickly establish strong rapport and trust.  Lastly, favorable candidates will demonstrate confidence with humlity, the ability to lead as well as follow, an eagerness to learn through both success and failure, and the capacity to work alone or within a team.     Beginner level ESOL classes will have students who range from NRS levels 1-3.  This will require the part-time ESOL Instructor be able to differentiate instruction so that all students succeed.  Student retention will be one of the main indicators of teacher performance, as well as pre- and post-assessments on the BEST Plus Test.   Beginner ESOL classes meet for six hours a week, with one paid hour prep time.

In 2020, Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) merged with Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) to create the Center for Brooklyn History (CBH). The Center for Brooklyn History’s education department connects students, educators, and archivists in New York City and beyond to our unique archives, collections, events, and experiences to bring the history of Brooklyn to life. The Manager of Education supports a small team of educators who bring CBH’s archive to life through programs for 4th-12th grade students and their teachers.
