  • Overview

    Brooklyn Public Library is seeking a digital marketing associate, who works 17. 5 hours,  to support BPL Presents, the Library’s premiere event series of arts and culture events. The Associate will be a part of the Marketing & Communications team, but will work exclusively with the BPL Presents team to build awareness and excitement about high profile author talks, visiting artists, dance and theater performances, film screenings and more.

     

    The Marketing Associate will act as the point person for BPL Presents’ social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. They will produce content that helps promote upcoming events, providing compelling context and narrative on BPL’s role in the cultural landscape of NYC. They will also create blog content for the division, and assist with email marketing, promotional materials and relevant content for BPL’s flagship social channels.

     

    The ideal candidate will be passionate about libraries and the roles they play in modern society, immersed in global culture and trends, and savvy and creative with creating original digital content that drives results.

     

    Some evening or weekend work may be required for event coverage.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Create content and develop strategy for the BPL Presents social media channels
    • Develop and maintain a BPL presents “brand voice” that aligns with BPL’s flagship channels
    • Coordinate social content with BPL’s Marketing team to promote BPL Presents’ flagship events, sharing strategy and social posting calendars
    • Maintain analytics reports for BPL Presents social channels showing growth, reach and engagement, and distribute to internal stakeholders
    • Assist in creating content for BPL’s flagship social channels focusing on BPL Presents programming
    • Act as marketing liaison between teams, making sure event listings and marketing materials are both accurate and compelling
    • Live posting from BPL Presents events, including compelling visuals and content that drives engagement

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Fluency in, and great instincts for, all mainstream social media channels
    • Highly creative and adaptive thinker
    • Knowledge of emerging media and technology
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
    • Highly organized, with exceptional written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
    • Proven ability to work across teams

     

    Recommended Skills:

    • Familiarity and experience in paid social media campaigns 
    • Familiarity with website content management systems (Drupal preferred) and an analytics program (Google Analytics preferred)
    • Basic experience with Adobe Creative Suite
    • Experience with videography and video editing
    • A passion for, and connection to, the literary community is a plus!

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
    • 1-2 years of work experience in marketing and digital communications
    • Experience creating social media content on behalf of a professional organization
