Overview

Brooklyn Public Library is looking for a digital marketing associate to join their Marketing and Communications Department. Marketing & Communications is the creative powerhouse behind the BPL brand, responsible for showing Brooklynites what the Library can do for them – books, yes, but so much more than books! – and the 15-person department serves as an in-house marketing and design shop for the departments and branches that make up the organization.  

 

As part of the digital marketing team within M&C, the digital marketing associate reports directly to our digital marketing manager and under their supervision, is responsible for day-to-day content creation for the Library’s flagship social media channels, as well as a small role within email production team and helping with basic website content tasks.  

 

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about marketing as a storytelling medium and passionate about the Library’s mission, is already skilled at digital platforms and tools (or a quick study!), with 2-3 years experience working in fast-paced, client-oriented and highly collaborative team environments.  

 

Responsibilities

Email Marketing 

  • Email production and execution: Building and sending weekly email newsletters for departments within the library, using Salesforce Marketing Cloud to build, test and schedule emails and working with internal clients to approve those emails before send.  

  

Website 

  • Website content editing: Edit and create new webpages for the BPL site. 
  • Blog content: Create and post blog content for internal clients. 

 

Social Media 

  • Social channels: Create and schedule content for BPL’s flagship social channels under the direction of the Digital Marketing Manager; Maintain analytics reports for BPL’s social channels showing growth, reach and engagement, and distribute to internal stakeholders; support CBH team with social content as needed. 
  • Video content: Schedule videos for virtual programming as needed, ensuring videos meet the latest SEO and social media best practices.  

 

Marketing 

  • Campaigns: Contribute to and support marketing and promotional campaigns 
  • Digital Asset Management: Assist with Digital Asset Management system for photo and branding assets
  • Online Store: Work with Senior Manager of E-Commerce and Marketing to deploy and manage the BPL online store

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, mass communication, and/or digital communications 
  • Experience in email, social media, or digital marketing publishing and production including automating flows and A/B testing, attribution tracking, audience segmentation, and targeting 
  • Experience using analytical tools to dive deep into metrics for reporting and ability to apply findings to optimize content and timing 
  • Mastery of email best practices and web or social content management 
  • Experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or other relevant coding languages across email and web 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop 
  • Strong project management skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail 
  • Familiarity with social media content management systems like Sprout Social & Facebook’s Creator Studio a plus
