Overview

Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is one of the nation’s largest library systems and among New York City’s most democratic institutions. Through a hotline and a series of in person programs at branch libraries and other offsite locations in East New York, Brownsville, Flatbush and Coney Island, the Digital Navigation program provides low-income Brooklynites with assistance with common technology and digital literacy challenges, including finding low-cost internet service plans, troublshooting common digital technology issues, staying safe online, and more.  

Housed in the Office of Strategic Planning and reporting to the Digital Navigation Manager, the Digital Navigation Coordinator will assist with program scheduling, staff onboarding and training, and implementing core IT systems including a new CRM (Customer Relations Management) tool. The Digital Navigation Coordinator will work with colleagues in the Department of Customer Experience, Outreach Services, The Business and Career Center, and IT to develop guidance and training for all digital navigators, while also helping the manager with external partners and locations for offsite programs.  

This position is full-time and grant-funded, with the current funding level expected to last two years, though additional funding is being sought. Remote work is possible, though the Coordinator will be required to travel to library branches and other Brooklyn locations regularly for outreach and in-person programming. The salary range for this position is 55,000-60,000. 

Responsibilities

  • Take an essential role in the design and implementation of key IT tools (Airtable, Zoho, etc). 
  • Work with strategy team and external consultant on establishing relationships with offsite partners and programming locations. 
  • Work with BPL departments and outside consultants to develop training for current and future navigators 
  • Provide feedback to Manager on key aspects shaping the impact and success of the program 
  • Develop outreach and marketing strategies to raise the profile of BPL’s digital navigation service in target neighborhoods
  • Help coordinate and oversee program schedules
  • Assist with invoicing, scheduling, and other administrative tasks 
  • Other duties assigned  

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree preferred and/or equivalent experience  
  • Successfully demonstrated customer service and outreach experience with the ability to work well with a diverse public
  • Demonstrated project management skills 
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful programs and initiatives 
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills 
  • Strong organization and planning skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and on independent projects 
  • Ability to work evenings & weekends 
  • Bilingual a plus
