The Best Buy Teen Tech Center (BBTTC) at the Kings Highway branch is looking to fulfill the role of a full-time Best Buy Teen Tech Center Career Pathways Facilitator. With sponsorship from Best Buy, Pathways Facilitator will collaborate with various National Partners to achieve a trained and ready workforce, in particular in STEM fields and careers. The goal of this program is to develop and implement technology and work readiness curricula and other program elements to prepare Best Buy Teen Tech Centers youth ages 13-18 for Best Buy retail, Geek Squad, and other tech jobs (e.g., web development). The Best Buy Teen Tech Center Career Pathways Facilitator will report to the Technology Training Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and recruit teens for the Pathways Program
  • Participate in community outreach to involve diverse groups of young people in the program
  • Co-host weekly virtual and in person workshops with various National Partners
  • Facilitate virtual and in person workforce readiness workshops for youth
  • Act as the primary support for participants as they develop specific technology skills and keep them engage throughout the program
  • Attend all meetings related to the program and the BBTTC, such as Pathways conferences, Immersion week, team meetings and trainings, as well as additional one on-one meetings
  • Assist with data collection and other information needed for evaluation.
  • Participate in monthly video conferences with The Clubhouse Network(TCN), Best Buy, and staff from other Teen Tech Centers involved in the Pathways program.
  • Communicate regularly with TCN Pathways Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with Best Buy Teen Tech Center Coordinator in supporting the teens to plan for their future, in keeping records of participants and keeping Tech Center organized
  • Train, and support volunteer mentors, assisting with the Pathways program to ensure they work effectively with youth
  • Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, trouble-shooting, and technical support to Teen Tech Center youth and mentors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and three o six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Interest in working with teens
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to plan effective and purposeful activities that build work-readiness or technology skills in youth
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Great written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of various Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Zoom and/or other video conference platforms
  • Experience with technology such as coding or programming is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work evenings and Saturdays
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision

 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.

This is a grant-funded, non-union position, funded through 8/31/25.  The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000 per year.
