We seek a talented Workday Instructional Designer and Trainer for a temporary assignment to join Brooklyn Public Library's Learning & Development team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing and delivering engaging learning experiences focused on Workday applications. This role involves creating instructional materials, facilitating training sessions, and ensuring that all users can effectively maximize their proficiency in Workday. 

 

The is a 6 month, temporary assignment and the hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm with a hybrid schedule. The salary range for this position is $75,000-85,000 annually.   

Responsibilities

  • Working with an external consultant, design, develop, and implement effective instructional materials for Workday modules, including e-learning courses, training manuals, quick reference guides, and video tutorials
  • Create an iterative module update process to tailor training programs to meet specific departmental and user needs
  • Facilitate engaging training sessions (both in-person and virtual) for various user groups, ensuring practical knowledge transfer and user understanding of Workday functionalities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to stay updated on system changes, new features, and best practices to ensure current and relevant training content
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and participant feedback, implementing improvements as necessary
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to users post-training, addressing questions and providing assistance as needed
  • Assist in developing communication materials related to Workday updates, enhancements, and training opportunities 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proven experience in instructional design and training, ideally within Workday or similar enterprise software systems
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and practical instructional design methodologies
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of learners
  • Strong analytical skills to assess training needs and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment

Preferred: 

  • Workday certification in relevant modules (HCM, Financials, etc.)
  • Experience with Change Management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies and multimedia design
