Brooklyn Public Library's Adult Learning Program is seeking an Adult Literacy Education (ABE) Adult Basic Education Instructor who is a dedicated, experienced, and skilled instructor to provide instruction for low and beginning level adult learners for reading/math on TABE levels 1-2.   All instructors are expected to be passionate instructors with good interpersonal skills committed to empowering adult learning participant to meet their needs. Classroom instruction should incorporate self-paced, computerized synchronous instruction; small group break out room learning exercises, videos, and provides classroom instruction in a variety of fields at beginning levels TABE 1 & 2 including workforce basics. The ability to develop contextualized lessons using 3-Part foundational skills: basics, thinking, and personal qualities. He/she will be responsible for coaching and motivating participants by engaging them in a hybrid virtual class and by assigning lessons using educational technology, and other electronic tools. We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a difference in their community by developing adults to their fullest potential.   The ABE class would meet virtually twice a week for 6 hours synchronously and 2 hours via an educational learning management platform. Instruction will be customized based on learner needs.

Brooklyn Public Library's Adult Learning Program is seeking an Adult Literacy Education (ALE) Fast Track Instructor who is a dedicated, experienced, and skilled HSE instructor to prepare participants for the workforce, TASC exam, and/or the NEDP in order to earn their HSE diploma.   All instructors are expected to be passionate instructors with good interpersonal skills committed to empowering adult learning participant to meet their needs. Classroom instruction incorporates self-paced, computerized synchronous instruction, small group learning exercises, videos, and provides classroom instruction in a variety of fields at specifically higher level TABE 5 & 6 and TASC prep. The ability to develop contextualized lessons using extensive writing and reading practice in the content areas of science, social studies, and math using a standardized curriculum for each program area. He/she will be responsible for coaching and motivating participants by engaging them in a hybrid virtual class and by assigning lessons using Google classroom, and other electronic tools. We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a difference in their community by developing adults to their fullest potential.     The Fast Track class would meet once a week for 3 hours synchronously and 2 hours via Google classroom. Instruction will be customized based on learner needs.

The Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning Program provides student centered adult literacy services throughout Brooklyn communities. The Program Associate is a grant funded position within Brooklyn Public Library’s Adult Learning Program department. The Program Associate will perform general administrative support for the Adult Learning Education (ALE) contract. Administrative tasks and day to day activities include: data entry, creating and maintaining electronic tracking systems via ASISTS; filing; assisting with program registrations as needed. The program seeks someone who will be responsible for providing phone and/or email support and will work closely with key program data staff. In addition, the program associate will process and enter all data for all ALE classes (15 per cycle) for three quarters.

The TASC Clerk will provide quality professional support for the Brooklyn Public Library’s High School Equivalency Dept. located at the Pacific branch. Responsibilities will include assisting HSE (TASC testing) through planning, organizing, scheduling TASC exams (English/Spanish), and preparing test materials for 2-3 TASC testing sites. Duties also include, processing examinee information, collaborate with Adult Learning Center staff and external partners to schedule participants, advise and refer applicants as needed.
