The Floating Literacy Advisor at Pacific Literacy Office will provide direct instruction, support for volunteers and instructional staff, academic advisement, career coaching, and case management services to motivate students from all reading levels to promote self-efficacy and life-long learning. The Floating Literacy Advisor will also organize, develop, and facilitate instructional programming and workplace development activities that integrate learning platforms and educational technologies to engage students in person and remotely. The Floating Literacy Advisor will facilitate student transitions from lower level to higher education maintaining accurate referral information and coordinating services with adult education providers, workforce systems, and job training programs among others. The Floating Literacy Advisor will collaborate and step in when needed to cover at one of the Adult Learning Centers to help students overcome any barriers preventing them from participating or achieving their goals. The Floating Literacy Advisor will work collaboratively with the ALC literacy advisors, office associates and supervise/provide guidance to all program assistants to ensure the success of Adult Learning Center programming and other programs within the department. The Floating Literacy Advisor will be second-in-charge of the Adult Learning Center when needed and works closely with all ALC Literacy Advisors and assist with interviews, onboarding and training new program instructional staff within the ALP department. This position will act as an educational resource to the other BPL Adult Learning program staff in the delivery of adult basic education programming. This position reports to the Manager of Operations.

This position will act as a resource to the other BPL Adult Learning program staff in the delivery of adult basic education programming. This position reports to the Adult Learning Center Site Supervisor.

The ESOL Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Adult Learning, leads the ESOL program and works with multiple stakeholders to schedule, implement and evaluate a series of ESOL classes including Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) certification based classes for digital literacy, medical billing, and food handling among others, Adult Literacy Education (ALE), and Business English for adult speakers of other languages seeking to improve their English conversation, reading, and writing skills. Coordinator is also responsible for supporting and supervising the Literacy Zone (LZ) staff that provides support to students. Primary responsibilities include program planning and implementation, scheduling classes, guiding assessment and instruction, and development of curricula; recruitment and supervision of ESOL instructors, and supervision of the ESOL Student Advisor,ongoing staff development; qualitative and quantitative analysis of program data for ongoing program improvement, reporting, and grant proposals.  The ESOL Program Coordinator collaborates and works closely with the Adult Learning leadership team to ensure alignment with institutional, departmental, and program priorities as well as on continuous improvement and quality management of staff and student experiences. The Coordinator represents the library through community outreach and liaising with departmental and institutional partners.  This is a grant-funded position that ends June 30, 2022 with the possibility of renewal.

Brooklyn Public Library's Adult Learning Program is seeking an Adult Literacy Education (ABE) Adult Basic Education Instructor who is a dedicated, experienced, and skilled instructor to provide instruction for low and beginning level (1st - 2nd grade reading level) adult learners for reading/math on TABE levels 1-2.   All instructors are expected to be passionate instructors with good interpersonal skills committed to empowering adult learning participant to meet their needs. Classroom instruction should incorporate self-paced, computerized synchronous instruction; small group break out room learning exercises, videos, and provides classroom instruction in a variety of fields at beginning levels TABE 1 & 2 including workforce basics. The ability to develop contextualized lessons using 3-Part foundational skills: basics, thinking, and personal qualities. They will be responsible for coaching and motivating participants by engaging them in a hybrid virtual class and by assigning lessons using educational technology, and other electronic tools. We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a difference in their community by developing adults to their fullest potential.   The ABE class would meet virtually twice a week for 6 hours synchronously and 2 hours via an educational learning management platform. In-person classes will resume in January 2022 if not sooner. Instruction will be customized based on learner needs.
