Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is among the borough’s most democratic civic institutions, serving patrons in every neighborhood and from every walk of life. BPL’s Central Library, with its breathtaking façade, sweeping grand lobby and vast contemporary and historical collections, is a Brooklyn icon. As the main library in the system, Central Library’s outdoor plaza, grand lobby, and Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Cultural Center—a state-of-the-art, 189-seat auditorium—serve as the main venues for BPL’s arts and culture programming, special events, and private event rentals. Ushers are part of a dynamic team that primarily represent the front of house operations at the Dweck Cultural Center, but also work at event spaces throughout Central and other library sites as needed.
Ushers are responsible for providing: exemplary customer service to patrons, visiting artists, donors and anyone they may encounter; fostering a positive audience experience; providing general wayfinding, seating and evacuation assistance in case of emergencies; and contributing to the successful production of events (before, during and post-performance).

The Librarian Trainee reports directly to one of six Regional Directors and will work as part of a team of 10 public libraries to provide quality public service to the entire community. The Librarian Trainee will be trained by a mix of Library Managers and Librarian Age-level specialists within the Region to conduct programs and outreach, to maintain the collection, and to provide reference services. The Librarian Trainee will work to meet the reference, programming and outreach needs of the region while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the needs and operations of the Brooklyn Public Library system.

The Librarian Trainee is a union position with a salary range between $51,027 - $53,495, which is dependant upon the number of credits earned towards the Masters Degree.
Drawing on its unique collection of physical and digital primary source materials and artifacts, the Center for Brooklyn History (CBH) inspires discovery, advances research, and preserves the history and cultural heritage of Brooklyn’s diverse communities.
CBHhouses special collections and archives in the Othmer library on the second floor of its landmark building on Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights. CBH connects visitors and researchers to over 33,000 books, 1,600 archival collections, 1,200 oral history interviews, 300,000 photographs, 2,000 maps, 8,000 artifacts, and 300 paintings that document the commercial, residential, community, and civic development of the borough.
The art collections and exhibitions coordinator will oversee all aspects of the art collections, including management of the physical collections and spaces, registrar duties, maintaining accessions, and the collection’s online presence. They will add their creative vision by also curating exhibitions using the collections at CBH, ensuring that exhibitions are representative and inclusive of the overall mission of the Center.
The schedule is 35 hours per week and this position reports to the Collections and Public Services Assistant Director.This position is hybrid, with in-office work a minimum of three days a week.

Brooklyn Public Library is seeking a part-time Passport Acceptance Agent to work in the Passport Offices located at the Central Library & Kings Highway branch. These offices are designated by the State Department to accept and pre-process passport applications. Agents are responsible for the review and intake of documents, forms and identification related to completing passport applications.
Hours for this position are 19 hours/week. The salary for this position is $19.00 per hour. Shifts vary based on location.
